Beautiful Ha Long! Beautiful Ha Long Festival! Quang Ninh Province launched the Viet Nam Visit Year 2018 with destination Ha Long, Quang Ninh. Quang Ninh invited 2,000 delegates from over 10 countries. EATOF Secretariat has participated with Gangwon Province, Luang Prabang Province. On the Ha Long Carnival Show. more than 1,000 domestic and international artists will be performing. Over the past 10 years, Ha Long Carnival has become an event, a memorable rendezvous for visitors. One of the most popular festivals and celebrations in Cambodia is undoubtedly the Water Festival which is also called Bonn Om Touk in Khmer. It is celebrated on the full moon of the Buddhist month of Kadeuk, which usually falls in the end of OctoberNovember, and the Cambodian Water Festival 2011 will be celebrated between 9 - 11 November. The Water Festival in Cambodia coincides with the end of the rainy season and reverses flow of the Tonle Sap River which is a unique phenomenon where the water pressure of the Mekong River causes the river to change its direction. The Water Festival also marks the start of the Cambodian fishing season and originates back to the reign of King Jayavarman whose navy celebrated in order to keep the god of the river happy to supply a plentiful crop of rice and many fish. Even though the Water Festival and celebrations in Phnom Penh by no doubt is bigger, there are many celebrations, boat races and fireworks in Siem Reap too. Cultural displays and traditional boat races make up a fantastic weekend of celebration and fun not to be missed!! The boat races involve whole communities, and villagers from near and afar bring their boats painted brightly, with large eyes on the prows as a precaution to ward off evil spirits. The boats, often 60 oarsmen strong, compete throughout the festival and whilst many like the build-up, the grand finale on the last day is especially worth seeing as the teams frantically paddle and chant their way to first place position. The 2011 Changchun Ice and Snow Festival and the Jingyuetan Vasaloppet International Skiing Festival has been kicked off in the capital city of Jilin Province and will last to March 6. More than 5,000 participants from 21 countries, including China, Sweden, the USA and Russia, showed up at a grand opening ceremony. During the 14th festival, four events, namely, Ice and Snow Tourism, Ice and Snow Sport, Ice and Snow Culture and Ice and Snow Trade will be held, encompassing 66 varied activities. In the meantime, four ice and snow scenic areas, Jingyue Lake, Lianhua Mountain, Xinli Lake, and Miaoxiang Mountain, and three ice and snow amusement parks Changchun Agriculture Expo Park, Nanhu Ice and Snow Amusement Park, and Northeast China Culture Ice and Snow Amusement Park will be opened to the visitors, one after another. The Vasaloppet International Skiing Festival, which is the most popular skiing event in Northern Europe, was introduced into China in 2003, making the country the fourth to hold the festival, after Sweden, the USA, and Japan. Lao New Year(PI MAI LAO )is always held in April from 13-15th of every year, the festival last for three days. The first of the three days is the last day of the old year. Dano Festival begins on 5th May (lunar calendar) every year in Gangneung City on the east coast of Gangwon Province. It is the festival that boasts a thous year long tradition. Gangneung Dano Festival is namely the largest folk festival designated by UNESCO as an intangible legacy of masterpieces of mankind in 2005. The festival starts off with a rite to the mountain spirit, followed by Danogook (farm music contest), Guano Mask Play, 50 other official events.
